Lake Como (Lago di Como) is one of the famous Italian Lakes destinations, not far from Milan in the north of Italy. Lake Como is just minutes away from Switzerland (you can tell when you are there from the beautiful snow-capped Alps in the background), but clearly you are in Italy.
Wistful 19th-century villas are seductively overgrown with old vines that seem to ache with stories to tell. Stunted palm trees seem held against their will in this northern location. And vistas are made-to-order for poets. In fact, it was early nature-lovers who wrote and painted here that put this region on the map in the 1800s. It is like the Garden of Eden. A perfect place to relax and unwind during a vacation.
